Welcome to Melanie’s newborn session!
When Melanie’s mama called to book a newborn session for her, I was so thrilled! I’ve had the privilege of photographing Melanie’s older siblings as well, so this just made her session extra special!
We did Melanie’s session in her home with extra precautions due to Covid. I am rarely in my clients homes, so this was nice for me to see another side of my clients!
I can’t wait to see these images up on the walls at Melanie’s house, alongside her older siblings newborn images!
Welcome to Killian’s newborn session!
Killian’s daddy and I are long time friends. When Killian’s daddy, Arron, let me know that Killian was on the way I was over the moon! Arron and Jess had waited a very long time for Killian, and now he is finally here!
Arron and Jess flew me out to their beautiful home in gorgeous Montana for an amazing weekend.
I first met Sadee and Kensy under very sad circumstances.
I volunteer for a non profit organization called, Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep, which blesses families with photos of their babies who don’t get to come home.
I photographed Sadee and Kensy’s daughter, Kiara, last year when she was born sleeping.
When Sadee found she was pregnant again, she reached out and asked if I was willing to photograph this new baby! She felt it would be so special for their family since I photographed their daughter Kiara.
We booked our session on the HOTTEST day of the year! It was 120 degrees outside, and Sadee rocked it!
We chose to do her session at McMenamins Cornelius Pass Roadhouse. The grounds are stunning, and it was also the location where we met to discuss her upcoming newborn session.
I am so excited for Kensy and Sadee! I know they are anxious to meet their son!
Welcome to the Cannon Beach Shoot!
My good friend Mandy of Perfect Balance Photo asked if I wanted to join in on a shoot with her at Cannon Beach to photograph gowns and skirts for our client closet!
Of course I said yes!
She had models already lined up, and I also booked my good friend, Julee, who is also a photographer to come and model for us!
The stunning Julee modeling our gorgeous Mister Pretty Skirt! Doesn’t she look like a princess?
The gorgeous Jawahir, modeling a skirt that Mandy made! How striking she looks in the teal!
This is the gorgeous Sam, modeling another Mister Pretty skirt. I love how fierce she looks with the stormy sky and her ice blue hair!
And the gorgeous Makenna, modeling “The Amazon Skirt”! Hard to believe this gal is just 17!
Since the weather took a bit of a turn, we opted for some indoor portraits as well.
And once the weather cleared back up, we went back outside!
Jawahir is modeling the Playa Dress from The House Of Flynn.
We chased the light until it was completely gone!
Julee was SO brave to get in the freezing Cannon Beach water for us! She lives in that area, so I’m sure she’s used to the cold cold pacific northwest water!
She took that Mr. Pretty Skirt in the water and made it look fabulous!
These girls were such amazing troopers to model for us! For those of you who haven’t been to the Pacific Northwest Oregon Coast in the winter or spring, it can be brutal! Our waters are NOT warm, ever! And the frigid wind howls most days!
But the girls made it look SO easy!
Welcome to Nova Jean’s newborn photography session!
Her mama and I have known each other for many years, so when I received a text inquiring about a newborn photography session I was excited!
Little Nova Jean has two heavenly siblings!
Her birth has been greatly anticipated by SO many people!
It was such an honor to incorporate her two older siblings in her photography session.
Nova Jean’s mama brought this beautiful keepsake blanket to the newborn session, so we absolutely needed to incorporate it. It says: “Cole & Jackson are my angels”.
I think this little felted Bible is one of my most requested props! It’s certainly a favorite of mine too!
And since BOTH grandmother showed up to watch the newborn session, it was a must to have a shot with all four ladies.
There is something so special about individual shots with grandmother’s too. I covet my pictures of myself and my grandmother.
Welcome to the Smith Family Jammies and Campfire Session!
I have to admit, this session stretched me a bit! I’ve never done this kind of a staged session, and I am so pleased with the outcome!
When I was told what kind of a session this amazing family wanted, I was incredibly unsure of how to pull it off. I immediately began researching on Pinterest to see if any other photographers had done something like this. While I came up with a few examples, most were not quite what I was looking for.
Mindy and I met for coffee to discuss exactly what her desire for the session was. She told me that she wanted a fun and authentic session that showed the family as they are in their favorite atmosphere.
Camping and Jammies.
She began to tell me what their family time is like when they are all out together camping. What kinds of foods they eat, the games they play, and other activities they love.
As we discussed her session and what was possible to do, we decided that we should do a campfire, and marshmallow roasting.
On the day of the session, each family member showed up with their new jammie pants! It was fun to see what everyone had chosen to represent themselves in the session.
We did the session in their backyard, where they had already built a firepit! Wood was brought in, marshmallow sticks were fashioned, and the laughter started.
So much silliness from this little fella!
I have been photographing this guy since his newborn session.
You can view one of his sessions with his gorgeous mommy HERE.
This family was such an incredible joy to photograph! They definitely stretched my comfort zone, and creativity as a family photographer!
The time I was able to spend with this family is priceless. They were so sweet and kind, and they made me feel right at home with them. I was worried I would feel like an outsider looking in on family time, but it was quite the opposite. They included me in their inside jokes, in their conversation, and in their daily lives. I received so many texts back and forth with this family over this session, they feel like my people. <3
I hope more families choose to do these types of sessions. I feel as though the family was very relaxed, and now has a documentary of them in their favorite atmosphere.
What do you think of this type of session?
Welcome and happy March!
Meet Kathryn Rose.
This little lady is pretty special to me. I used to babysit her mama, Autumn, when she was just a little girl. We lost touch over the years, which broke my heart.
Several years later I started attending a new church, where her mother and grandparents attended! It was an amazing time for me to reconnect with Autumn.
When Autumn contacted me for newborn photography, I was of course overjoyed. She especially wanted purples for Kathryn’s session, so we made sure to do several purple set ups in different shades.
Autumn’s mother, Katie, passed away a few years ago. We wanted to make sure that Grandma Katie was honored and remembered in Kathryn’s newborn images, so Autumn brought her favorite picture of her mother for use to use.
Grandma Katie’s flower was a sunflower, so I had to be sure to incorporate one in as a surprise. I chose this lovely watercolor sunflower, and I think it was just perfect.
Another way we incorporated Grandma Katy’s picture in the session. We have mama Autumn and Great Grandma Dorene’s hands in the image as well.
Kathryn’s daddy is in the Army, so we wanted to incorporate that in the newborn photography session as well. I love how he cradles is precious baby girl in this image.
I just love when parents choose to be in the photos too. It’s such a special time to document for newborn photography.
Meet the Hall Family!
When I met with Daleasha, I knew we were going to be fast friends! She was so organized and knew exactly what she wanted with her family session.
I sent her the link for Style and Select, a complimentary wardrobe service I offer to my clients. She came up with the colors of browns, greens, and oranges… so perfect for the fall colors she was wanting!
We did her family session the day after Thanksgiving, at Cottonwood Beach in Washougal. The weather was perfect, and the sunset was stunning.
During my meeting with Daleasha, she expressed an interested in a couples session. She had seen the session I had done for my sister in law, Elizabeth, and wanted similar ones. You can see that session here.
After the family session, Daleasha and her husband braved the cold Columbia River so we could get some dreamy anniversary images. The gown Daleasha found was just perfect for the water images, too!
I hope you’ve enjoyed The Hall Family!
