Meet beautiful Caleb and Judah!

These two little loves attend my church, so I was super excited for their arrival. They came to visit me in my Vancouver, WA Newborn Photographer studio.

Twins are my favorite to photograph.  They are so loving and comforting to each other, it’s really quite fascinating. There are so many twins being born in Vancouver, Wa!

These little fellas were so relaxed and easy for their session. I really love when moms can just sit on the couch and have some peaceful time while I work with their babies.

For twins sessions I try and photograph the babies together, and individually.  I feel it’s important that they are their own person as well. But these two were just so snug and cozy together, it was hard to separate them!

I am so blessed to be able to see these little cuties each week at my local Vancouver, Wa church!

What do you think? Are they identical?

Imaging 2020 Trip – Vancouver, WA Newborn Photographer

Imaging 2020 Trip – Vancouver, WA Newborn Photographer

Hi friends! As many of you know I took a trip to Nashville for a photography conference! Imaging USA 2020 was such an intense and amazing week of learning and networking.

Packing is always a little tricky for me, since I choose to pack my own food.

Having a strict diet often makes travel a little more difficult! One side of my case was clothes, the other was my snacks!

Uncategorized Photography

I traveled with my good friend, Shonda, of Gray Feather Photography

We had a fairly early flight out of PDX! I was so grateful to fly with a friend!

Uncategorized Photography

Very front row on our first flight, thank you Shonda!

Uncategorized Photography

Snack time and watching Doctor Thorne for the second flight. I need to finish reading my Doctor Thorne book!

Uncategorized Photography

We arrived safely at the Nashville Airport, and took a bus to the Grand Old Opryland Hotel, where the conference was taking place. I was so grateful to not have to travel to and from the conference!

We shared the room with our local friend Julie of Traveling Julie Photography, and Marcela of  Lemonshoots Photography. This made the stay so much more affordable and fun!

We had our own balcony too! Lots of breakfast and people watching, phone calls and FaceTimes.

Uncategorized Photography

Staying at the resort also gave us a discount on food at several restaurants! Shonda talked me in to eating rainbow trout with the skin left on! It was amazing.

Uncategorized Photography

Arriving at Imaging early was such a good plan. About 13ooo photographers were expected to attend! Shonda and I were able to register and get our attendee and vendor badges early before the rush! We we also able to attend Pre Conference classes at an additional fee. The main conference classes were first come and had a limited number of attendees. Taking the Pre Conference classes allowed me to learn in a much smaller class size, which I prefer.

Uncategorized Photography

Some shopping was in order before the conference started too!

These boots were so sparkly and gorgeous! I don’t fancy boots like this, but I was tempted!

I also found this amazing journal for taking notes in. I love the soft leather feel to it, and that it zipped closed so I never lost my pen!

Uncategorized Photography

The hotel had an amazing amount of gorgeous shops as well. I was particularly excited to visit the Library… and was quite disappointed when I found no books but only whiskeys and wines.

Uncategorized Photography

These beautiful grand pianos were found everywhere in the hotel. I was a little sad to find them all with locked lids, so they could not be played. They were still gorgeous to look at.

Uncategorized Photography

There were so many water features in the hotel as well! It was like living in a giant green house for a week! There were many large waterfalls, and rivers fill of beautiful fish!

The first class I took at Imaging! This was taught by Kristi Elias. She was such a fascinating teacher, with a wonderful hands on demonstration. I appreciated her openness about photography journey, and her experience as a luxury fine art portrait artist. Kristi is kneeling on the floor on the left.

Pausing for a picture at the Imaging photobooth with Shonda and Marcela!

While at Imaging, Shonda and I were asked to speak on a panel for the non profit organization we both volunteer for. Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep is dedicated to helping families who have lost their infants heal through photography.

We were asked to speak about our experiences volunteering, in the hopes of recruiting new photographers, digital retouch artists, and assistants.

Our first NILMDTS speaking panel!

So many photographers in one place! It felt so good to be with my people.

Shonda and I also volunteered to work at the NILMDTS trade show booth! We answered to many questions and soothed so many concerns. Most photographers don’t think they can do bereavement photography, but we find so many times that’s just simply not the case. So we were there to help put all those fears aside.

My sweet friend Michele of  Memories by Michele signed up to be a new NILMDTS photographer! Michele and I mentored under the same photographer, Stone Hall Photography. It was such a joy to meet her!

Also note our amazing photobomber in the back. Thanks, Tim

More trade show stuffs! So many vendors were present! It was really overwhelming! I loved seeing all the vendors that I was interested in, and ones that I had purchased from online.

I checked out all the new flying photography things, which I am actually quite interested in!

And of course all the amazing artwork on display!

Uncategorized Photography

I think this guy was my favorite part of the trade show!

Uncategorized Photography

During the conference I signed up for business classes only.

I had a side satchel with my for my new notebook and my snacks… and it also doubled for a book sling after hitting the Imaging Book Store after each class! These are two out of the five books I purchased during my conference.

During the opening speech from Professional Photographers of America’s David Trust,  I learned that there are no rights for photographers when their work is stolen. We are unable to take someone to small claims court over stolen work. Simply “right clicking” on an image online, or using Facebooks handy dandy “save image” button is stealing. And there are no rights for me to stop people from doing so.

There is only ONE senator holding up the next step of the bill, and it is so embarrassing to say it’s Ron Wyden of Oregon.

You can learn more about this by going to the PPA website and reading the article about it.

By the end of the week our little group of four had grown! These ladies were so much fun, and so inspiring!

My gorgeous cousin Brooke came to visit me twice! She lives in Tennessee and I rarely get to see her. She and her husband and children came to visit me the first night I arrived! Ut was such a blessing to see them all! She came back the night before I left, and we had some good catching up and healing talk about our grandmother who died a few months earlier. I do miss my family.

The last morning was so lazy and quiet.

I stayed in bed for the majority of the morning and had coffee while reading some of my new books.

Uncategorized Photography

One last time with the delicious sushi from Wasabi!

Uncategorized Photography

Heading home from such a packed week! I was excited to get home to my family, and start implementing all the new ideas for my business!

Uncategorized Photography

Sushi at the San Jose airport was greatly lacking compared to the sushi I had eaten all week at the Opryland!

And this little kitten made me smile.

I am so grateful to PPA for the opportunity to attend Imaging USA 2020! And I am looking forward to attending next year in Grapevine, Texas!

Concannon Family – Vancouver, WA Family Photographer

Concannon Family – Vancouver, WA Family Photographer

This is the beautiful Concannon Family! They bid on and won my Silent Auction Package for Camas Christian Academy’s Annual L.I.T.E Auction last year! You can find out more about their wonderful fundraiser HERE.

Photographing this family was such a treat for me! Their children were in school at CCA with my children as well, so it was just like hanging out with friends!

I really love the style that Koreen decided on for her professional family portraits! The colors were so perfect for fall, very warm and rich.

We decided that the Washougal Dike would be the best place to capture her family portrait photos this year. I sent Koreen some images of other sessions that she may like, and she loved the images on the Dike at sunset.

This family is so fun! I love their laughter and happiness! And I especially love their daughter’s disgusted face at the sight of her parents kissing!

I hope you enjoy the Concannon’s Family Session!

Sofia Senior Portraits – Vancouver, WA Photographer

Sofia Senior Portraits – Vancouver, Wa Photographer

Hello friends!

It’s not very often that I get asked to photograph high school seniors, but when I do it is such a treat!

Meet Sofia! I met this sweet girl through my sister-in-law, Elizabeth. You can see her gorgeous family session HERE and view her website HERE. Sofia takes lessons from Elizabeth, and her mama is one of Elizabeth’s closest friends! I was thrilled when Sofia’s mom, Amy, told me that she had a dream about me photographing her daughter’s senior portraits.

Sofia, Amy, and I met at a little local coffee shop to discuss the session. We wanted to nail down the date, style, and location of Sofia’s senior portraits. Since Sofia was graduating from Washougal High School, we decided to keep the location local. We chose to do the session on the gorgeous Columbia River! We started at the Pedestrian Tunnel next to the Pendleton Woolen Mills, and then made our way up to the dike and then down to the water for a gorgeous sunset to end her session.

Sofia had her hair and makeup professionally done, so she didn’t have to worry about any of that the day of her portrait session. She and her mother chose fantastic outfits that suited Sofia and also showed her personality.

Her mother felt like there was an element missing from Sofia’s wardrobe choice. So she asked if I had anything in my studio wardrobe that might work for Sofia. I brought all the gowns that I had in Sofia’s size to our coffee meeting, and I was thrilled when they both chose the red lace gown! Sofia looks like Snow White to me in the red gown!

I hope you enjoy Sofia’s senior portrait session!

Working with newborns is such a passion for me. I love swaddling up these tiny humans in beautiful different wraps. One of the things that I believe sets me apart from the rest of the industry, is my monochromatic setups. I do appreciate the elaborate setups that other photographers do. However, for me, it’s all about the baby. I love taking the time to pay extra attention to details; tiny fingers, tiny toes, itty bitty nose and ears, the perfect lips, and the dark fringe of lashes

Uncategorized Photography

I like using tiny bows on baby girls. These velvet ones are just so delicate, and compliment baby’s features so well. The soft pink color enhances the baby’s gorgeous skin color and doesn’t detract from her beauty.

Uncategorized Photography

Using flowers on tiebacks is another favorite of mine as well. It just adds an additional feminine touch to the images. I love the silk flowers with the dainty pearl centers. Each of my tiebacks is handmade, either by myself or by a vendor that I have specifically chosen.

Bonnets are another favorite of mine to use. Each of my bonnets is hand made by Mama Knits, and often has a matching handmade wrap as well. Ashlee finds ethically sourced wool, which she hand dyes herself and then knits into these luxurious bonnets and wrap sets.

Vancouver, WA Newborn Photographer -Abigail Lyn Everly

Vancouver, WA Newborn Photographer – Abigail Lyn Everly

Meet the beautiful Abigail! I had the pleasure of photographing her newborn images in my home studio in Vancouver, WA!

Abigail is a special little lady to me. Before I was a newborn photographer, I used to nanny her older brother, Calvin, when he was just her age! Calvin is the same age as my middle son, who is now 14!

Her mama and I had a wonderful time catching up since it had been a while since we had seen each other. Abigail was the perfect little newborn model for me, too. She slept so well during all of her setups, and never made a peep!

As many of you know, I focus mainly on a monochromatic scheme for my newborn sessions as I feel it leads the focus on the baby as opposed to the props used.
My in-home photography studio is filled with a monochromatic color pallet with bonnets, wraps, and tiebacks specially created for newborn photography. I know it’s such a relief for parents to not have to think about bringing their own props to sessions!

I especially love this bed by CBC Prop Shops, I have one in pink as well!

Having props that are speically made for newborn photography is so important. A lot of places offer crochet items, claiming they are newborn sized when in reality they are for a older and larger baby.

I hand pick each of my newborn props from the best of the best vendors. It gives me a great sense of satisfaction to support my vendor friends, knowing I am getting a hih quality and ethically sourced product from them. They take as much care and pride in their prop work as I do with your precious baby for their newborn photography session.

Vancouver, WA Newborn Photographer – Atlas Levi

Vancouver, WA Newborn Photographer – Atlas Levi

Meet Atlas Levi! What a fun name for this little fella! I rarely have duplicate names in my Vancouver, WA photography studio, and this little guy is no exception!

I met Atlas when his mama, a local photographer, was hunting for someone to do her newborn photography session! Courtney is an amazingly talented photographer in Vancouver, WA and Portland, OR area! You can view her work on her website, Peace Mountain Photography. We met when we were both on location for family sessions in Portland, and I noticed her amazing camera bag! It was friendship at first sight!

Atlas is close to one of the chubbiest babies I have photographed yet! He was so squishy, and fit so well in my posing ring!

Atlas’s nursery is Super Mario themed, so his mama brought in a tiny Mario stuffie for us to use during his session! It is fun when parents bring in items for their babies to be photographed with that match their nursery decor.

Vancouver, WA Children’s Photographer – Stella’s First Birthday Session!

Vancouver, WA Children’s Photographer – Stella’s First Birthday Session!

Welcome to Stella’s First Birthday Session!

I’ve been photographing Stella since her mama brought her in to my Vancouver, WA studio for her newborn session. I’ve also had the pleasure of photographing her older brother, Topher, for his first year of life as well.

While I enjoy cake smash sessions when baby’s turn One, I really love when mama’s have unique ideas for their babies first birthday sessions. Stella’s mama knew she wanted pink and gold and girly! So we decided on a glitter session to celebrate her turning One! We decided on the light pink backdrop with the gold glitter falling stars, with the gold glitter ONE. I love how the glitter stars tie in with the gold glitter falling stars on the backdrop!

Stella’s mama made the onesie, tulle skirt, bow for the session! While Stella wasn’t much for keeping the bow on, we did manage to get a few before she ripped it off her head!
